the plaza hotel

it actually used to be called the hilton hotel.  it was built by conrad hilton, and at the time was the tallest building in the city.  he was married to zsa zsa gabor, the hungarian socialite, actress, and beauty queen.  his son nicky was married to elizabeth taylor, who lived in the hotel's penthouse for a while.  as if this post doesn't contain enough celebrity gossip already, conrad's great-granddaughter is paris.
