americans move to el paso

americans only came in significant numbers after the mexican-american war.  the jest of the war is that mexico didn't want to give up texas to the states.  it went from 1846-1848, and had some pretty significant results.  it ended w the treaty of guadalupe-hidalgo, which officially annexed texas, as well as california and new mexico to the us.  it established the rio grande as the border as well.  after this mexico also made a greater effort to colonize their northern border, in order to keep from losing more land.  i wonder how many people moved so as to stay in mexico?
