
i know it's not el paso...but it's close. it's like 30 miles southeast of town, along the rio grande. at last count, 8000 people live there. it was named after george wilson fabens, a guy that worked on the railroad. the common practice was that as the railroad expanded, new towns would be named after employees. he was around from 1857-1939. it was in national news in 05, when two border patrol officers shot an unarmed illegal alien and drug smuggler. while they didn't get a pardon, bush announced that they would be released on his last day of his presidency. about 40% of the population is under the property line. it's also where we had a field trip to this farm where this girl in my class lived, but alas, i was sick that day...
